Time-release pills that are tampered with present grave danger and can lead to overdose. This is because they are designed to gradually release in your body over an extended period of time, but when tampered with can have an immediate release. The medication’s absorption can be altered leading to decreased adherence and increased side effects.
While some medications may come in liquid or chewable form, not all medications do. Additionally, liquid and chewables are 5-100x more expensive with a plethora of cons.
